CYNTHIA HUERTA

Welcome to the Nurse’s Corner!

At Veterans Memorial Elementary School, we care about your health and wellness! The Nurse’s Office is here to support you with any medical concerns and to help you stay healthy throughout the school year. Whether you have a minor injury, need help managing a health condition, or simply want advice on staying well, we’re here to assist you.

EMERGENCY INFORMATION FORMS

It’s essential to complete the Emergency Information Forms each year. This helps us ensure we can reach you in case of a medical emergency. Please take a moment to review and update your contact information on Skyward to ensure everything is accurate and complete.

CLASS DOJO: STAY CONNECTED!

Stay informed with important updates about your child's health and school activities by downloading the Class Dojo App. This is how we communicate important messages regarding your child’s well-being and other school updates.

MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL

Whenever possible, please schedule medication administration outside of school hours. If your child requires medication during school hours, please contact the school nurse to discuss the necessary arrangements. Please note that children are not allowed to bring any medication to school. All medications must be administered through the nurse’s office following school guidelines.

ILLNESS AND INJURY

If your child becomes ill or injured during school hours, they will be assessed by the school nurse. You will not be contacted for every visit, but if your child has a more serious illness or injury, we will make every effort to notify you. Children with a temperature of 100°F or higher and/or symptoms of a communicable illness will be sent home. Please keep your child home if they are running a fever until they have been fever-free (below 100°F) for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.

FOOD ALLERGIES

Many students at UISD have food allergies. It is imperative that parents notify the school nurse and the child's teacher of any food allergies as soon as possible. A food allergy can turn into a potentially life-threatening situation.

If you have any health concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are always here to help students stay safe, healthy, and ready to learn!

Stay healthy and take care of yourself!
